Spinal Flow Technique is a healing modality that allows me as a Practitioner, the ability to get your body into a state of ease, so it can begin to heal itself! Amazing right!? I know... !! It was developed by Dr. Carli Axford, a Chiropractor from Australia who had her own practice offering Spinal Flow for many years, helping thousands of people heal! She then decided if she taught others the technique, think of how many more people could be helped with this life-changing modality! I am honored and so excited for my clients to experience this too!
A Spinal Flow healing session consists of the Practitioner using any of the 33 access points along your sacrum and cranium, which allow me to communicate with your central nervous system. We all have a flow within ourselves, where the wisdom in our body is stored, that travels from our brain all the way down the spine to our tailbone (coxxyx) via the cerebral spinal fluid. By using the access points, this will increase the flow within you, releasing layers and blockages in the process, and then your body does the rest! It is my job as your Practitioner to make sure your flow is steadily increasing and tracking this each session. Still confused? Keep reading...
Our bodies are incredibly intelligent, and this intelligence begins as a tiny embryo. Our brain, spinal cord and Central Nervous system are one of the first things to form when we are conceived. These 3 life centres are surrounded by cerebral spinal fluid and protected by a membrane which consists of dura mater and meninges. This is where our life force energy is stored in our bodies, and how our brain communicates with all of our systems, organs, and tissues. Our bodies know what to do if we break a bone, or how to heal a wound, even how to create life; which is absolutely amazing!
Our bodies also know how to keep us safe if we are in danger, with the fight, flight, freeze responses. This state is called the sympathetic nervous system. This is a stress response, and when not functioning properly, we can get stuck here. The parasympathetic state is when our bodies rest, digest and heal. With the amount of stress we deal with on a daily basis, we are often living in a constant state of fight, flight freeze, even while we're sleeping and should be getting rest! Do you often wake up exhausted? If so, this could explain why! So many people are stuck here, and don't even realize it!
Over time, when we have any kind of stress or trauma that we do not process or release, it stores in our body. And can you guess where it is stored? If you said, "along the spine", you'd be absolutely correct! This is scientifically proven to be true by research on cadavers where the stress and blockages along the spine were clearly visible in the surrounding tissues and cells. These layers of stress build up and create blockages or hardness along the spine, in turn affecting each vertebra it surrounds, often impacting the surrounding muscles and tissues as well. Our Central Nervous system is then affected by these blockages, and the messages the brain is sending out to all of our tissues, cells and organs becomes faulty. Picture a water hose that is free flowing; that is how our messages should be going through our Central Nervous System, with no disruption. A blockage is much like a kink in the hose, the flow reduces and the messages become faulty. Over time, these faulty messages will start interfering with how we feel and function, causing pain, dis-ease and illness.

After a spinal flow session, there are several steps you can take to support and enhance your body’s healing process.
HYDRATE: Plenty of water will help your body flush out any toxins that might've been released.
REST AND RELAXATION: Give yourself time to rest and relax after your session. Your body may need some downtime to integrate the changes and adjustments made during the session.
GENTLE MOVEMENTS: Engage in gentle mindful movements to encourage circulation and prevent stiffness. Activities like walking, stretching, or gentle yoga can be beneficial.
MINDFULNESS AND MEDITATION: Practice mindfulness and meditation to stay connected to your body, help reduce stress, and support the healing process.
PROPER NUTRITION: Consume nourishing foods rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. A balanced diet supports your body’s healing mechanisms.
AVOID OVEREXERTION: Avoid strenuous activities or heavy lifting immediately after the session to prevent undoing the benefits of the Spinal Flow.
EMOTIONAL CARE: Be mindful of any emotional releases or shifts that may occur after the session. Journaling can be a very helpful tool. Engage in activities that bring you joy and support emotional well-being.
SLEEP: Prioritize quality and quantity of sleep. Sleep is crucial for your body’s healing and rejuvenation.
STAY CONSISTENT: Consider incorporating Spinal Flow into your wellness routine for ongoing benefits. Regular sessions can help maintain the balance achieved during the initial session.
Remember that every individual is unique, so the aftercare routine may vary based on your specific needs and how your body responds to the spinal flow sessions. It’s important to honor your body’s signals and provide it with the care and support it requires to fully integrate the healing effects of the session.
